Last night I read the first 20 pages of The Perks of Being a Wallflower. Right now the main character, Charlie, is writing to an anonymous person whom he believes will read and listen to his problems. He is explaining how when he was in 7th grade his best friend,Michael, committed suicide. Throughout the book I can already tell that he’s the kind of kid who doesn't have a lot of friends so this greatly impacted his life. The author then transfers the story line to school. It was the first day of High school and Charlie had absolutely no friends, except his history teacher.I predict the next I read it will show me a little more of Charlie's background and find out if he has any deep secrets.

In the next 20 pages a lot of very important things happened. Charlie talks a lot about his sister, Susanna. He explained about her boyfriend, and how it was a toxic abusive relationship. He talked a little more about his Aunt Helen, whom he has said he had an awesome relationship. Charlie quickly changed subjects though, and then talked about how he was in Shop Class, and the fact that he had met a nice funny boy named ‘Nothing’ (Patrick). I predict within the next 40 pages Charlie will talk more about his Aunt Helen and their relationship

OH MY GOODNESS!!! THERE WAS SOO MUCH THAT HAPPENED IN THE NEXT 40 PAGES!!!! ITS AWESSSSOOOMMMMEEEE!!!!!!!! There was also many literary devices as well. At one point Sam and Patrick were asking him what his favorite book was and he exclaimed “The last book I read “ This made me think, because its so true. I read a good book and then next I read is better, and it seems a though every book I read gets better and better. Another one was “Not everyone has a sob story, Charlie, and even if they do, it’s no excuse.” This quote is now one of my favorites and I think it’s because it’s something that everyone and anyone can relate to.

First, they talked about how Charlie’s friends Patrick and Sam take part in Rocky Horror Picture Show and being that those are his only 2 friends he went to see the show. When he went to the show and me one of Sam and Charlie’s friends, Rosemary who is a Buddhist. (YES, this is important since she comes up later in the book) Then, they went through the tunnel. The tunnel is where Charlie has said he first felt free. He said he felt as though all teens should go there, as way to feel free too, as a way to feel like part of something.

Charlie did talk about Mary Elizabeth more,I personally believe they are going to go out because Mary Elizabeth seems to really like him and Charlie is the type of guy who would say yes just to make the girl happy.I found out more about Mary Elizabeth’s life too. Apparently her parents are rich and she lives in a big house, which I don’t believe, I think it’s gonna end up being a lie. Though Mary Elizabeth probably likes Charlie, Charlie definitely likes Sam.He talks about her all the time but he told her he had an inappropriate dream about her and he’s sorry for thinking about her like that, which made me laugh super hard.

Wow, So I've officially finished the book, The Perks of Being a Wallflower. It was sad but good at the same time. I found out that Charlie's aunt had sexually molested CHarlie when he was younger. Sam and Patrick both went off to college and so did Charlie's sister. Charlie gives his sister a call blaming himself for his aunt's death ( though it wasn't his fault, she was driving out to get charlie a birthday present and crashed.) His sister panicked and called for an ambulance. He ended up in a hospital and thats where his parents find out about what his aunt had done to him. Patrick and Sam come back visit him in the hospital and then take him out for a midnight ride. This is where he finally feels needed but free. If I've learned anything from this book it's probably that everyone belongs somewhere with someone and has a place.
